I'm Barb Safranek, the designer and sewist of the garments you see on these pages. I am a landscape architect living and designing residential gardens in Spokane Washington. I find that the skills of texture and color mixing, scale and composition in garden design apply equally to the realm of wearable art; Both have the beauty and vitality of living things at their centers.

   Dutch wax prints are the starting point for my designs, amazing art in their own right, and from there I choose silhouettes and pair the prints with luxurious wools, laces, satins and other fabrics to create unique garments to enhance the wearer.

   I believe dressing should be a ritual of joy bringing art to this amazing life and supporting and challenging us to live it to the fullest.
